Lake on the Mountain Engagement Session with kids

We met Tabatha and Dave, and their adorable kiddos at Lake on the Mountain, Prince Edward County at sunset for a family & engagment photography session. We absolutely love engagement sessions that incorporate kids. We took some time to run around with the kids (mostly Patrick) until they warmed up to the camera  and then we pretty much followed their lead. We had so much fun seeing Lake on the Mountain through their eyes! Lake on the Mountain is absolutely stunning in the summer evenings, this evening the water was calm and warm. We were lucky enough to pretty much have it to ourselves.

The Meadows Catering Wedding, Stirling

We met Tabatha in August 2018. She was bubbly and brimming with excitement about her upcoming wedding, we invited her to our home office and talked all things wedding planning. This girl had a plan for her wedding, she had been dreaming and envisioning a country chic outdoor ceremony and a focus on good food and a big dance party for the reception. Her vision came together with the team at the Meadows Catering and florals by Floralora in Prince Edward County (all vendors listed at the bottom of this post).

NOTL Foodie Couples Weekend Getaway

We road-tripped down to Niagara-on-the-Lake (NOTL) this summer to photograph the lovely Adam and Elizabeth’s wedding. We chose to make it a weekend getaway as this was our first time to experience wine country and the magic that is Niagara-on-the-Lake. Having spent most of our last two summers in Prince Edward County we were eager to experience and compare the two. The foodie scene in Prince Edward County (PEC) is absolutely flourishing but we knew that NOTL was established long before PEC so we couldn’t wait to compare the offerings.

In-home/Backyard Documentary Session, Lakefield

We followed Heather, Burt and Lou around while they played in all of their favorite places, the front porch, the tire swing, the backyard. When the rain teemed down we ran inside for some books and a bit of acoustic guitar. As Heather serenaded her boys Patrick and I completely faded into the background and the moment was purre magic, an everyday moment etched in time with photographs. I absolutely love sessions like this. Sessions where your family embraces the documenting of the every day moments, finger pointing and all!

Schmücker Hof, an afternoon picking apples and celebrating Autumn in Germany

One of our favourite Autumn activities is indulging in seasonal produce (I mean one of our favourite activities every season is indulging in the seasonal produce - but it’s especially important to us in Autumn!). As summer ends and peaches appear we jump at those, and then we wait, and we wait. In Canada, we call the orchards and double-check the timing for Honey Crisp apples. We were pretty disappointed this year when we ended up leaving Canada just one week before Honey Crisps were ready. However, this trip to Schmücker Hof saved us! Though we didn’t pick Honey Crisps, we found two varieties that are juicy and sweet and let’s be honest there really isn’t any comparison between freshly picked apples and the ones you buy at the store so any variety would have been good!
