Intimate Wedding at The Drake Devonshire
These two sweet souls planned and pivoted their wedding 4x before reaching out to us for an elopement in Prince Edward County. From Steve’s lego bouquet surprise to their best man and maid of honor dogs, this elopement turned wedding was full of intentional surprises. The Drake Devonshire / Drake Motor Inn provided the stunning backdrop and late August gave us a beautiful sunset- it was absolute magic! If you’re considering getting married at The Drake Devonshire check out this post for everything you need to know to book your wedding.

Getting Ready at The Drake Motor Inn – Pets Welcome

S + S rented a suite at The Drake Motor Inn so that their two pups could be part of their celebration. With plenty of indoor and outdoor space, their family rallied around them throughout the morning, picking up specialty Italian sandwiches and keeping the cooler stocked with cold drinks. Steve and his best man (and flower girl) spent the morning in and out of the suite, spending equal time walking the dogs and building his surprise lego bouquet for Sandra.
Sandra and her bridal party got ready in the Courtney Beaulieu Beauty Bar, parked inconspicuously in The Drake parking lot.

First look at Karlo Estates, Winery
Sandra and Steve opted for an intimate first look over the drystone bridge at Karlo Estates Winery. Since they got married midweek (see why we totally recommend this here) they had the whole spot to themselves. They were able to spend some time hanging with their dogs and have their portrait session before the wedding. For more Karlo Estates inspiration check out this Drake Devonshire Elopement.

Wedding Ceremony at The Drake Devonshire Courtyard
S + S held their wedding ceremony in the courtyard behind the Glass Box at The Drake Devonshire. The creek burbled in the background as S + S laughed through their emotional ceremony. This ceremony location works well for small groups of people (with 17 guests, everyone just fit), especially when the Glass Box is the reception site. Craig Logan officiated the ceremony.

Sunset First Dance at The Drake Devonshire
S + S opted to share their first dance at sunset in the courtyard of The Drake Devonshire. Thanks to an amenable employee of The Drake we were able to turn the twinkle lights on and bring out their Bluetooth speaker. S + S snuggled in together and soaked up the intimacy of a private first dance. This was a first dance first for us and it was oh so beautiful- we’d highly recommend it. After the first dance, we roamed around the grounds of The Drake for some sunset portraits with S+S. With the Creekside space reserved for their party, we had endless options for nooks and crannies to cozy into. What a dream the grounds of The Drake Devonshire are.

Wedding Reception at The Drake Devonshire Glassbox

S+S hosted their intimate family dinner in The Drake Devonshire Glassbox. With the sunset streaming in through the windows, they toasted to their families for sharing in their celebration.
