Prince Edward County Micro-Wedding

Megan and Christian traveled from Nova Scotia for their Prince Edward County Micro-Wedding in August 2021. Like many couples, they had originally planned a wedding for over 100 guests at The Meadows Stirling in 2020. Due to Covid, they pushed their wedding by a year and then decided to rethink the whole day. We worked closely with them to curate a wedding day that represented their true values, they landed on a micro-wedding with immediate family and their sweet pup Kona at The Meadows and a family-style dinner and reception at their Airbnb.

From Megan and Christian's heirloom jewelry and watch to the dried florals Megan collected for over a year to place on the dinner tables, every element of this gathering was thoughtfully chosen with the environment and family history in mind.

Getting wedding ready at the Chapel and Cabin at Stonehaven

Megan and Christian chose to rent both the Chapel and Cabin at Stonehaven. Two Airbnbs that are side-by-side and conveniently located less than 20 minutes from The Meadows. This allowed them to get ready separately, but for family members to go back and forth between the spaces, and to prepare the reception dinner in two kitchens rather than one. The stained glass windows in the Chapel and original exterior features make this Airbnb incredibly unique.

Megan spent the morning hanging with her family members and relaxing. Kona (her gorgeous rescue pup) barely left her side - her calming personality emanated throughout the space. Megan and Christian both incorporated family heirlooms into their wedding day. Megan's ring was made from a piece of her mother's jewelry and Christian's watch was passed down by his grandfather.

First look at The Meadows Micro-Wedding

Megan and Christian planned to share an intimate first look at The Meadows. One of the upsides to a micro-wedding is that guests arrive when you tell them to, leaving the grounds at The Meadows empty of spectators. Megan and Christian had the wide-open space completely to themselves. No one was prepared for the emotional rollercoaster that would ensue. As Christian waited patiently in the wildflower field he welled up with tears and our hearts just about burst. Magic.

Forest Ceremony at The Meadows Micro-Wedding

One of the beautiful gifts of having pushed their wedding by a year is that Megan and Christian were able to hold their ceremony in The Meadows Forest Ceremony Site. This stunning location is only available for Spring and Late Summer weddings due to our lovely Canadian mosquitoes. With a late-August wedding date, they took full advantage of the gorgeous boardwalk and pine tree ceremony location.

As their guests enjoyed canapes and drinks in the barn at The Meadows, Megan and Christian stole away for a few minutes to let the day wash over them. They laughed, they cried, they had a chance to breathe. Even with a micro-wedding, you always have time to take a breath with your partner. Please do, and bring us along. The sun peeked out, the clouds got moody. It was perfection.

Family-style Wedding Dinner at the Chapel at Stonehaven

Family-style in the most traditional sense. Long wooden tables, laid with vintage glassware and linens, set by family members. Hand-picked and dried florals. Grandma and Grandpa sitting side-by-side and sharing childhood stories. Dad's pulled pork, mom's handmade wedding cake, their favorite bubbly drink for toasts. The first dance at sunset under the twinkle lights. And then, a few more stolen moments just the two of them. Basking in the warm glow of the sunset and the absolute joy that comes from sharing your gathering with those closest to you. The souls who know you as individuals and will support you as partners.

We are so honoured to have been a part of your day. Thank you Megan and Christian for inviting us into your inner circle. Sending all our love your way.
