Flexibility in wedding planning and expectations
Susie and Jesse are possibly the most resilient couple we met in 2020. They gracefully navigated changing their wedding from their dream date/location at Lake on the Mountain Resort (Prince Edward County) in June to their own living room in March, from having two children to two + a newborn and all with a smile on their beautiful faces. We couldn’t wait to meet with them in early August, one week after their sweet Henry was born for a Family Session at North Beach Provincial Park in Prince Edward County.
Susie and Jesse decided on North Beach Provincial Park in Prince Edward County for their family photography session because they wanted to be close to the water, and to have some natural entertainment for their children and nephew. We managed to have the end of the beach all to ourselves as most of the day-trippers left at dinner time. The sky looked ominous from time to time but the weather held out and we had a beautiful muted sunset for this family photography session at North Beach Provincial Park.
Documentary Style Family Sessions at North Beach Provincial Park
One of our favourite things about photographing families (and children in particular) is that they are unpredictable. At this session we had the older children getting soaked in Lake Ontario while sweet baby Henry chose to sleep through the entire session. We managed to gather everyone together for a few traditional family formals and then we released all control and completely followed their lead. We loved having the opportunity to just document this family, following their interests while they interacted with each other and capturing their little personalities in the process.
After this session, Patrick put together an heirloom album for Susie and Jesse. This gorgeous linen-covered album tells the story of family, of a little slice of this beautiful, if unpredictable life. The heavy pages, the meticulous binding, everything about this album feels like it will last a lifetime. It’s kind of amazing to think that one day Henry will be an adult and will be able to look back through this album to see his family as it was just after he was born – guys it gives me chills!
